Kiki

Kiki had an excellent night and adapted very well to the apartment. She is a big ball of energy then nods off. She purrs so loudly and spreads her paws when she lies on one of us. Her scar looks intact and no issues. No trouble using the litter box. We absolutely adore her even if she did wake me up at 7 this morning and run around until 8 am before she tuckered herself out. I have her blanket from your house around the apartment and when she lies down on us she sucks on it. Thank you for being sigh a great foster mom to her. I don't think she would have adapted as well had you and your husband not cared for her as much as you two did. Here are a couple pictures of Kiki in her new environment.

Sincerely,
Carly and Ian

Francis

Francis, or Francis Xavier, has been adopted as Beau's brother!!! Here is a note from his loving mom:

" My husband and I adopted our beautiful Francis Xavier a little over ten weeks ago from CATS.

He is the sweetest little boy and we loved him instantly.

He immediately adjusted to his new home with us and he fell in love with our other little boy, Beau Edward.
(We adopted Beau from CATS, as well.  His story is featured here, too).

The boys are close brothers now and can be seen together always.  We love them so.

Francis gives kisses to all of his family and is a very sweet and cuddly little boy.  He is an absolute treasure.  He will have a wonderful life.  He will the get the best care possible, tons of toys, treats, beds, good food......whatever he wants or needs.  He deserves this and so much more.  He will be loved forever.

We are so lucky and happy that he has joined our family.

Thank You Rita and CATS! "

Beau

Beau is a wonderful cat, who is soooo loved at his new home!!:

" I went on the Internet one day and saw Rita's website for her wonderful rescue organization.  I had thought, just that day, that I wanted to adopt a little boy.  I called Rita on the phone.  She is an amazing woman.  She spoke with such love for all ot the kitties, I knew I had found the right place.  We arranged to meet.
That Sunday, my husband and I drove to Providence to meet Rita and some kitties.  Beau was doziing and I was very drawn to him.  He wasn't playing or entertaining anyone, just having a nice little rest.  I couldn't take my eyes off of him and wanted to hold him very badly.  I asked to hold him and a wonderful person took him out and gave him to me.  Well, that was it.  I was instantly in love with him!
I was so distracted by him.  I was barely paying attention to RIta while she was going over the adoption papers!  Sorry RIta!  He was sleeping in my arms and, instantly, I loved him very much .  I had my beautiful son right near my heart.
We took him home and my husband and I couldn't wait to make him the happiest little boy in the world.  This Sunday will be six weeks since we adopted him.  He has made us so happy!  Every Sunday morning I kiss him and say "Happy Adoption Day Beau!"
He is the funniest little guy!  He loves to play.  He zooms all around the house at lightning speed!  He loves to chase my shadow every morning.  He loves to chase the laser.  That amuses him and his Dad alot!  He plays with his many toys.  He loves to hide and  'sneak attack' people.  He has a great sense of humor.  He makes us laugh.  He is always running around chattering to himself!
Beau is also a very sweet boy.  He gives kisses!  It is wonderful.  He gives us all kisses and we treasure each one.  He also greets us at the door like a little puppy.  He loves when the door opens, he will run straight to it to greet whomever is coming in.
He loves his cat tree, especially sleeping in the highest bed it has.  He loves his water fountain, he's silly, sometimes he sits and stares at it!
Beau is my 'bed kitty.'  He sleeps with me and I never had a kitty do that before.  I love it!  He is a darling.
Beau is a gorgeous boy, with his beautiful fur, pale blue eyes, and a fluffy tail.
Beau has brought so much happiness into our home.  He is our baby.  He will never want for anything.  He will be loved forever.  He will always be my baby, my darling Beau.  I will always make sure he is happy, healthy and safe.  There is nothing I wouldn't do for him.
Thank you Rita, and all your volunteers, and Beau's foster parents.  You all have made it possible for me to find my forever son.  For that I will always be thankful.

Fondly,

Linda

Rhys & Rhoda (now Cailey and Bailey!)

Picture
This is another wonderful example of how two cats are better than one! Cailey and Bailey- formerly Rhys&Rhoda- were adopted together and are loving their new home, their new parents, and each other! We are so thrilled they are doing so well!!
From their mom Susan:
" My husband Mike and I just want to thank you for doing what you do. If it was not for you, we would not have the two new additions to our household. We adopted a brother and sister - Rhys and Rhoda. We want to report that Rhys now named Bailey and Rhoda now named Cailey, are happy and healthy. They are loving their new home and we love them more than you know. They are the best kittens thanks to your wonderful staff who fostered them. They love to play in their kitty condo and with their toys. Thank you for all you do. "

Saki

I just want to start out saying how wonderful Rita and her associates are from the Cat Adoption Team of RI! They give the best care for all of the cats that find their way there.

Our pug “Gizmo” died from old age a few years ago and we decided to adopt a cat. I searched several web-sites and finally stumbled upon “Suki” who we renamed “Saki” (Petfinder.com). I completed the application and the rest is history!

My son Kyle and I went to Seekonk MA to take home Saki. Kyle was a little reluctant with the idea of owning a cat but when we saw how beautiful Saki was we instantly liked him. We thought for sure once we got him home that he would hide out for a few days to get use to his new surroundings but not true at all. He loves to be the center of attention and follows you wherever you go.

Saki is such a good natured cat and very entertaining at times. He has been a great addition to our family.

Pursia

Pursia was extra special to us because of the way she came into our care. Her owner was struck and killed by a car, and the family surrendered Pursia (aka Percy) to us. She clearly missed her owner- cats can suffer from grief just as we do, and she probably did not fully understand what was going on or why she was being taken away from the home she was used to. We really wanted to find her someone very special to give her a second chance at a happy home after such a tragedy- and luckily we found just that! Pursia has been adopted and is absolutely ADORED in her new home!!! We couldn't be happier for her and her new mom, who we can tell loves her more than words can express! Pursia's story is so heartwarming, and it makes us feel so wonderful to be able to do what we do for kitties like her who deserve love and happy lives. Congratulations Pursia and Lori- we're so happy for you both!!

From Pursia's mom Lori:
I just want you to know that Percy is a love bug!!  We  got her home on Sunday and after she sniffed around a bit, she was  more relaxed.  She sat on our laps and played with her cat nip.  I am so happy with her.  I didn’t realize how much she actually look like Wesley, my daughters cat.  Except for eye color, they are the same size and temperament.  Please share these pictures with everyone who we met at Petco.  I love her and she will have the  best home.  Thanks for all you do to save and place these beautiful cats/kittens. Fondly, Lori

Zeus

Picture
Our big boy ZEUS has finally found his forever home, and he is LOVING it!!! His new mom has been kind enough to send us some updates, and he's doing great! Even though we miss this big ball of love, we're SO HAPPY that he's finding such joy, peace and love in his new life! Zeus  is a wonderful example of how great it can be to adopt an older cat who has tons of love to give! Way to go Zeus!!

Max

Picture
This WONDERFUL story comes from Tammy and her daughter Samantha, who adopted Max:
Two weeks ago today we adopted TC Kitty now known as Max. With so many beautiful kittens & cats it was so hard to choose until we held him. It was love at first sight (I think for him too)! He immediately fit in with our family with the exception of our 6 month old Torti Patches. She hissed and growled at him and wanted nothing to do with him except to give him an occasional paw to the head. We seperated them and with in 3 days of a slow introduction they are now best buddies and are inseperable & very mischievous together to say the least.
The best part of the adoption was seeing my Daughter Samantha's face. The first thing Max did was kiss her nose and she was in her glory. Sam is an amazing little girl who has Asperger's Syndrome and is very anxious. It's amazing how much Max & Patches understand her. She can be loud at times when upset. Where most kitties would be scared..... not Max & Patches. Both kitties don't run & hide instead they come out when she is upset and just by seeing them she calms down leaning toward Max who gives her his infamous kiss on the nose. It brings tears to my eyes to see the joy they bring to each other & how they just understand Sam.
Although we have only had Max for 2 weeks it seems like forever. He fit right into our home & our hearts. I have never owned a male cat & he has to be the most snuggly, gentle boy around. You can tell he came from a great foster home. He has these awesome huge double paws that Rita said all of his silblings have too. What a wonderful addition to the family. We couldn't be happier.

Ophelia

Picture
Ophelia investigating some flowers
Ophelia, a posh calico with a taste for the finer things in life, was abandoned with her brother and sister kittens. They were put in a bag and left for dead- leaving the brother kitten with a broken leg. C.A.T.S. came to their rescue, and soon Ophelia found a home with two loving, cat-obsessed ladies who adore her. You might see her around the site, as her mom does all our web-work and Ophy likes to keep a paw in the action. Her favorite activities include sleeping in her mom's bed, getting her belly rubbed, being carried around in boxes or shopping bags, and nagging her brother Damien- a rescued feral kitten from their neighborhood.

The Tippys: Lady Grey & Bella

Picture
Sentinel Grey on duty!
This is a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) success story!! Grey Tippy and Bella Tippy are a mother-daughter pair of cats living in the East Providence area. They appeared in the neighborhood of two volunteers, who began to feed them. At first, Grey and Bella were terrified of people and would not come near- only approaching their yard to eat when no one was around. As months went by, they became more and more accustomed to the volunteers, who are truly Cat Ladies and knew the steps to take to familiarize themselves without appearing threatening. Soon after, Grey and Bella warmed up to them- but only them! Every spring, the volunteers noticed that Grey and Bella would be harassed by other neighborhood and feral cats, ending up pregnant and in a lot of pain. One day our volunteers came home to a dead kitten, brought to their yard by Grey and Bella. They took it as a sign that their feral kitties were asking for their help. With our help, and using the very effective Trap-Neuter-Return method, they were able to secure the remaining kittens and find them loving homes. Grey and Bella were both spayed, given thorough vet checkups and made up to date on their shots. They were fostered for a few days while they recovered, and then put back outside where they were accustomed to living. The difference was incredible! Grey and Bella are much healthier and happier now, and have continued to grow close to the volunteers who helped them. They can be found in their yard most of the time- relaxing on the back steps or lounging on their patio set. They get regular meals and lots of kitty treats, and allow the volunteers to pet them (a lot!!! They LOVE to be pet!!!). They even stop inside the house every once in a while, but only with the door open and with a clear route back outside in sight. Now that they're not having kittens, they get in far fewer fights with the other cats outside. They will probably never live inside a home, but they have wonderful happy lives in their natural outside environment and are loved very much!

In the winter, the volunteers create Outside Shelters for Grey & Bella to snuggle up in and stay warm. They've nicknamed Grey "Sentinel Grey", because she is usually waiting for them to get home, and walks them from their driveway to their house- making sure they get in safely! Bella, the younger of the two, is the more submissive one- but she purrs the loudest when she's getting a good scratch behind the ears!

A Kitten Love Story

Picture
A happy little boy and his new kitten!
This little boy came to visit us a few weeks ago with his mom and little brother. While most young children look at all the cats, pet them, and move on, he became particularly attached to one small kitten that was being held by one of our volunteers. While his mother and brother oooh-ed and awww-ed at all our beautiful kitties, he was absolutely enthralled with this one sleeping kitten, even though she wasn't playing or doing cute things like her brothers and sisters in their showcases. He sat with us and pet her, and soon the little kitty woke up and- to our surprise!- turned over, stretched her paws out to him, and insisted that he hold her. As he took her in his arms, she snuggled up on his shoulder, nuzzled into his neck, began to purr and fell asleep. We had never seen a cat take to someone so intensely and so quickly before! While his mom recognized how special their bond was, she was hesitant to adopt because they already have a cat (who they had previously rescued with us!). However research shows that, while cats are considered 'solitary' animals, they thrive when they have another feline companion to share their lives with. After a few weeks of consideration, he convinced his parents to let him take her home, and now they are an inseparable happy duo! While we generally encourage people to adopt older cats, who have just as much love to give, there is something to be said about the bond that you forge with your cat when you are able grow up together. It is clear to us that these two will be a happy pair for a long, long time!

Maximus

Picture
What a handsome guy!
From Maximus' mom, Carrie:

"Maximus (formerly known as Barnaby) is my king and he is settling in just wonderfully to his new life here at the "palace". He spends his days in the picture window catching rays and his evenings propped next to mama on the recliner before retiring to bed where he snuggles right in again with mom!  He is a true pal in every sense of the word as not a day has gone by that he has not been waiting in his spot for me when I walk through the door from work.  He is a blessing and I don't know how I ever lived without him!!!!"

Carson

Picture
From Hoarded to Happy
Carson's mom, Gina, shares his story:

" Rita rescued him from a hoarder over 6 years ago, along with many other sick and neglected cats and kittens.  He had an eye infection which was not treated and he went blind in one eye.  If it weren’t for Rita he would never have made it.
He is the absolute love of my life, and a wonderful, sweet boy.  He is also spoiled rotten!  He lives with his two sisters, Bridget and Zoe, and we are all very happy together. "

Cream Puff/Chuck and Frosty

From Chuck(Cream Puff), Frosty, Kringle, and Frank's mom, Cheryl:

"
I am an animal and cat lover and I've raised my sons to be cat lovers.  We have four of the little darlings, two of which come from Cat Adoption Team Services.
I first came in contact with Rita and CATS a few years ago when my son was heartbroken because an outdoor cat we'd rescued, Comet, got outside and disappeared.  Comet never adjusted from being an outdoor cat to an indoor one.  So we decided to find another cat.  We went to petfinder.com and saw an adorable fluffy, buff kitten named "Cream Puff".   Cream Puff was listed with Cat Adoption Team Services.  Cream Puff, along with his brother and sister had been found as newborns living in a playground in Fall River.  Their mother was nowhere to be found.  Rita and CATS nursed them to health. I filled out the online application and was quickly contacted by Rita Falaguerre of CATS.  Rita checked my references and I was approved for adoption.  My son Billy and I drove to RI and picked up the kitten.  I was amazed at the wonderful condition I found Cream Puff and the other kittens that CATS had for adoption in.  They were clean, looked healthy and were very social. A couple of years have gone by and we adore out little Cream Puff who my sons renamed Chuck.  He's healthy, affectionate, fun and he gets along wonderfully with my two other cats Kringle and Frank.

For no reason in particular, other than I'm just a cat lover, I got the strong urge to get another kitten this past spring.  I fought the urge, but when I saw CATS had an all white kitten I had to have him.   I certainly didn't need a fourth cat, but wow, I'm so glad I got him.  Frosty, just like the other kitten I got from Rita, is healthy, adorable and social.   The other cats love him.  He keeps my 8 year old cats Kringle and Frank on their toes and he's the best playmate for Chuck.  In addition, my 2 year old Belgian Shepherd has adopted Frosty as her baby.  She adores him, follows him around, plays with him and lets him eat out of her dish."

Valentino NKA Mittens

Valentino, now known as Mittens, is doing fine.
He goes to the groomer for his long fur, at Petco. He gets along well with Bruce, his "stylist" there.
We all love Mittens, except for one cat that still growls at him once in a while, but they are co-existing.  He is fine.
Thanks to the C.A.T.S. organization for all the help in rescuing my Mittens.
