Kiki's 2 year vet check was good -- "a very healthy cat."
Her "real" personality finally fully emerged at the 20 month mark with us. It took her a long time, but it seems like a switch clicked and she decided that nothing bad is going to happen to her if she asserts herself. She turns out to be:
- a gentle cat who never scratches or bites, no matter what the provocation
- an extremely vocal cat who communicates exactly what she wants
- an impatient cat who demands a play date every morning
- an affectionate and sociable cat who enjoys cuddling with Marie in the evening
- the smartest cat I've known. She knows her name, of course. She also knows multiple words: "bird", "brush", "water", "window", "play", "treat". She's very obedient: she knows "No" even if it is spoken softly. She obeys, though she will sulk.
If her vocal cues are ignored, she leads us toward what she wants -- play (she has a play area that she leads us to) and a brush (she has a scratching post with a platform that she climbs onto for brushes) are the top items. She uses a "lead the kittens" technique -- offering herself for pats, then moving off in the direction she wants us to go.
Kiki is looking forward to another summer at the Cape, where she moves from window sill to window sill on an endless hunt for birds and chipmunks. Today, she's enjoying the Spring sun here in Southborough in her favorite basket. Cheers, Eric (& Marie)

He has changed so much! He grew too fast. He is such a joy to us and a blessing. He is definitely a mama's boy!! He loves his daddy too.
Lilly (Gray Tiger) and Alyssa (Tortie) are settling in nicely. Lilly has become a lap kitty. Alyssa is still pretty shy, but comes out to cuddle

Hello my update,
She is doing great (SALEM). She is now weighing 8.2 pounds and is such a cuddle bug.
Very, very, very spoiled. Not just by myself but by my parents and my sisters.
She got a cat condo for Christmas from myself, crinkle tunnels from my parents, and treats from my sisters.
A very loved and spoiled cat as she should be.
I just wanted to let you know that Egypt (I changed her name to Salem) is doing great. She has adapted very well and very quickly to her new environment (she has taken over the place). She is such a cuddle bug and has turned into quite the lap cat. She is always laying on the couch with me and loves to sleep on the bed with you at night.

For "Happy Endings", or should it be beginnings. Over the last 8 years we have adopted 4 cats from C.A.T.S. Adoption Team.
Each cat is so unique in their own way. We adopted Zuzu in 2008. She is so beautiful. Her colors and markings are so unique. She loves to fetch her cat toys and bring them back to you to continue to play catch. She talks back to you when you talk to her and she loves to be held like a baby.
Toula was adopted in 2010. She looks like a Russian blue. She and Zuzu bonded and continue to be inseparable. She loves to walk up you when you are sitting or laying down so she can be close to you.
Benson was adopted in 2016. He is so unique. He doesn't leave my side. He is right next to me as I am writing this. He's my buddy. He also talks back to you when you talk to him. He loves to be held in your arms like a baby. He is a big boy. His Mom was a big cat. He loves to play with his sisters. They love to chase each other at 3 AM !!!! Benson can also open doors and cabinets with this paws, I told you he was unique!!!
And in June 2016 we adopted Olivia. She is Benson's favorite. Maybe because they are close in age or maybe because they both love to watch Law & Order!!!! They really do!! She loves to be with her siblings and could play all day long.
I can not thank Rita and Bev and all the volunteers at C.A.T.S. Adoption Team. My cats are the most lovable well adjusted felines. And I believe it has all to do with the fact that they were all fostered in good loving homes. They got the best care. They were completely vetted and required us to do nothing but bring them into our loving home.
Am I a cat lady???? Yes I am !!!! These 4 cats give the most unconditional love. They are amazing.
So this is not a happy ending----- it's a very happy beginning.
Thank you Rita, Bev and everyone at C.A.T.S.!!!! Please continue your wonderful work. There are so many cats that have been rescued by you and so many more waiting for their forever home!!!

He is amazing!!!! He is totally my buddy. He sleeps across my legs at night. He loves to be picked Up and held and when you talk to him he talks back. He turned 1 year old on 9/30/16 and we had A big party for him!!!! He loves to lay on his back like this!!! He's so funny
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He had a great Christmas! Ernie (aka Tiller) is doing great! He's so good with the kids. He is particularly attached to my daughter, Ella. He likes to let her dress him up, push him around in her stroller for her dolls and snuggle with him. He has been the perfect addition to our family. I've attached some pictures. I hope all is well and that you had a good holiday, too.

Hi, just e-mailing you to let you know Samantha is adjusting very well. We actually changed her name to Mimi. I asked my son to try and say Sammy and Mimi came out instead, so that's what we're naming her! She's still getting use to the noise and how active my son is, but she's doing great other than that!

-Just a quick note to let you know that Kiki is doing well. She hid for just a few hours, then came out for pets. She is friendly and very curious. This morning I came downstairs and she appeared and greeted me with lots of rubs and requests for pets. She still runs and hides occasionally when she hears something unfamiliar, but she pops back out again soon enough. She is a very sweet cat, and she's getting happier and bolder by the minute. She's found numerous sleeping places already (of course none of them the soft wonderful beds we prepared for her!). She's quite verbal, uttering little chuckles and tweets as she investigates things. Kiki now owns the house, runs around like crazy, talks to us, sleeps in the sun in her basket, and is a happy and settled cat. She's had a vet check (she's fine -- like you, we "trust but verify"). Kiki had a couple of teeth extracted today. The vet says she should be able to eat more easily now, because those teeth were very sore. We have decided that Kiki is a very smart cat. She knows her name - she picks it out from casual conversation, like a dog, and she talks back to you. It can be really funny at times. Her ability to communicate what she wants has surprised us. Perhaps sometimes we wish she wasn't quite so smart and so verbal! Our feral stray was sweet but didn't talk at all -- only when she was desperate to get back outside. Thanks again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serenity is doing great! She stopped hiding, roaming outside my room every day now. She's fine with my roommates but still adjusting to their presence but not hiding from them as much. Loves her belly rubbed, she's definitely a keeper!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blue is doing great, we love her very much.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Louie (formerly Jackson) has been with us since November 2015. He is such a snuggle bug and is the most playful kitten we have ever met. He loves his puppy brother, Lunchbox, and they play together all day long. He is curious, very vocal, full of energy and sweet. I lost my kitty Riley about two months before I found Louie and I know that he came into my life for a reason. He's my best companion and he helped me smile again after the loss of my former pet. We can't imagine life without him!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so... the minute I held Shiloh in my arms I was completely in love with him!!! He is happy and healthy and playful and so loved by me and my husband David. God blessed us with Shiloh to help heal our pain from our Jonesy’s passing away from cancer. Shiloh has been such a great joy to us!!!
(First photo is Shiloh’s first day home, ...2nd is a month later ..... and the last one is him today! ) Happy Furry Wishes, Shiloh & Penny & David Souza |
Misty is great! I love her so much and she adores her scratch post!
|
We have had a great summer with Ernie! The kids decided to re-name him Tiller, because his markings look like wood and the tiller the part of a sailboat that you use to steer. Boats are a HUGE part of our family. My son, Jack, suggested the name and it fit!
|
Tiller settled in so easily with our family. He adores our kids, Jack (7) and Ella (4) and often cries for them when they are asleep in bed or not at home. He's very verbal, as a matter of fact! He tells us when he's hungry, when he wants to play, when he misses us and when he wants attention. I didn't know cats had so much to say!!Tiller is a snugly and playful cat. He wants to sit with us and sleep on the couch at night when we watch tv. He will perch on my shoulder while I'm walking around picking up the house. He's pretty funny at night before bed when he wants to play. He will take "flying squirrel" leaps at us or at a toy for us to play with. He keeps us on our toes! There is a picture I attached of Tiller sitting at the top of our stairs on the railing. Shortly after I took it, I found him sliding down the banister like a little kid! Jack and Ella are still cracking up about that!
We love our Tiller! Thank you for checking in with us and helping to make him part of our family.?? |

Our two perfect boys. My husband and I couldn’t be happier to have both Boo-Boo and Dino (formerly Mickey & Bentley) in our lives. It was raining cats and dogs when we ran from our car into Petco to check out the cat shelter program. As soon as we laid our eyes on these two brothers, we immediately fell in love.
The path to Boo-Boo and Dino wasn’t easy. Andrew, my husband, and I decided it was time to adopt a cat after we had to put our 19 year old cat down about 2 years ago. We must have visited and called 6+ rescues and shelters and always walked away empty handed. Then we learned that Petco works with C.A.T.S., we were thrilled. Once we decided to adopt Boo-Boo and Dino, the rest was history. Beverly and Rita were wonderful in helping us through the adoption process. They called and checked on the kittens every week for the first couple of weeks to ensure that they were adapting well to their new environment. They also gave us some tips on caring for the kittens: such as, getting the “right” scratching post so that they would use that instead of my new furniture.
The kittens have been with us for about a month now. Although they are brothers, they couldn’t be more different. Boo-Boo is the black kitten with white socks. He is so personable and would jump onto our laps and cuddle with us on the couch every night. He is also a trouble maker and gets into everything, like all of our cabinets. Dino is the white and grey kitten who is just a sweetheart. He loves his space and would often be found lounging out on the tallest perch of his cat condo, and is more of a sneaky trouble maker. Every morning and early evening they would get into their brotherly wrestling match. It is quite entertaining for all of us. They have adapted to their new home right away and we are very fortunate to have both boys in our lives. By Lisa and Andrew

This has been a rough year for pet loss in our family. We had 6
wonderful four legged family members, 4 who were elderly. Our two dogs passed in September (lymphoma and kidney failure) and sadly we lost our wonderful cat Frankie on 12/30 and the most wonderful cat of all,Kringle, on 1/18. After all of this loss I decided it was time to bring some new life into the house. I called Rita at CATS, who I'd adopted from twice, and she said she had a wonderful kitten for me and if I wanted, I could get him that day. My teenage son and I dropped everything and headed out. Winston has indeed brought new life into the house. The loss of our pets had left a cloud which this crazy little kitten took away. He charges around the house, jumping over furniture and chasing our two older cats. When he's done he climbs on one of us for a nap and a cuddle. We adore our little Winston. It's pretty clear that he rescued us! |

Our little friend is settling in nicely, she loves laying at sliding glass door watching the birds, she came into this home like she has been here the whole time. She's a perfect fit. My other kitty Lola is not quite as happy but I know she will come around, she's just laying off to the side watching everything. Thank you so much for helping me to get this done, I think Jax is going to be very happy here and I am very happy to have her, she is a love. I can't believe how happy this little girl is. You really would think that this
was her home before today. And she keeps coming over to me on the couch and cuddling me almost to say thank you.

Hi - Larry (right) and Minty (left) here to let you know about our Happy Ending thanks to the efforts of CATS! We are both such good boys, affectionate, playful and respectful to our Big Beagle Brother, Oakley. Neither of us would have made it to our fantastic forever home without the help of CATS and especially our awesome foster moms, who took such good care of us while they worked tirelessly to find the perfect home for us. Thanks for all your hard work and genuine concern for the well-being of all animals but especially those of the feline persuasion. Sincerely,Larry and Minty (living the good life!)

Good morning :) Beauty is doing great. She settled in the first day and she's already sleeping with us at night. So far, no problems! She's an absolute sweetheart and we were able to leave her alone yesterday while we were at work with no issues coming home. Oh, and she has the cutest meow! It's so soft and sweet.

We like watching Kitty TV! Unless it's daytime, in which case we move from window to window for real-life Kitty TV. Kiki has become very verbal, talks to us all day. We think after a year+ she has finally decided we are worthy.
Cheers, Eric & Marie

Madison ( who we now call Sophie), is doing great! We are very lucky to have her. She is a little ball of energy who is curious about everything. She jumps on our bed almost every morning and cuddles with us. She still isn't the biggest fan of being petted or held but she's getting better. Thank you for letting us have Sophie in our life! Marissa

Amelia is doing great! She's a perfect kitty. Affectionate, playful, not needy, and gets along with our male cat. They both sleep on our bed. Eli
Sirus is doing wonderfully! I renamed him Nevil and he is just what I needed. Playful (he fetches one of his toys like a puppy) and is also extremely cuddly and affectionate. He likes to sleep under the blankets sharing my pillow or using my arm as his pillow; when it's bed time he's ready and goes under the blankets himself! He's just starting to be able to jump up high and is getting bigger, already up a pound from when I adopted him and longer. I am so grateful to have been able to adopt him. I feel that he is flourishing nicely while enriching my life by being in it. Thank you formaking my new companion possible!! Crystal
I was just checking my email files to determine how long ago it was that
I adopted my baby Mercedes (can't believe it has been almost 4 years
now). I kept the name you gave her, because I am SO VERY
GRATEFUL that your work brought her to me. I love her to
pieces and she is everything you said she was and more. She has blossomed in
the four years since I've adopted her, and gosh, she is SO playful and crazy
and acrobatic! She needs a talent agent, I swear. She jumps so
high and twists in the air like nothing I've ever seen. And she has the
quickest reflexes, comparable to a Bruins Hockey player. She goes
crazy for packing paper too - Just loves tunneling in it, and ripping it
apart and spitting it out. She kills me with her antics. She is
also my little beauty queen. I don't have luck ever capturing how totally
beautiful she is, just because the lighting has to be "just so",
because her dark fur obscures her facial features in pictures. But I want
to show you a couple pics in the hopes that you remember this special kitty.
In short, I just want to thank you again for helping these kitties find their forever homes, since it is a true labor of love. And to put my money where my mouth is, I just made a donation to C.A.T.S. as a
She is a very loved kitty. Vincent (my bf who came with me 4 yrs ago when I adopted her) also adores her and is frequently called upon to play games (she let's us know when she needs play time with very specific meows). This is Jenny, the very proud adoptive mother of Lila and Riddick (formerly known as Jackie and Pepper). Myself and my husband Tim just wanted to say thank you to you and your wonderful staff for the gorgeous new additions to our family! Lilla and Roddick have been with us for just over a week, and after a little time, patience and love they have become firm friends (they are currently snuggled up together fast asleep).
We are so grateful for the wonderful care they were obviously given before adoption, and for the help your staff gave us with the adoption process.
Warm regards
Jennifer
These
cats are beautiful. They're affectionate, calm, and well-bonded with each
another. They were quite as the proverbial "church mouse" on the ride
home. They've become acquainted with their new home, and are now snoozing on the
(indoor, of course) look-out perch I built for my previous cats. It overlooks
the small bird sanctuary that my landlord maintains in his back yard, so
they'll be thoroughly entertained through the windows. They've been introduced
to their litter box, and I presently have three different types of top shelf
foods out for them, along with spring water. I also put out lots of toys,
including two knit "mice" I bought. They seem to really like those. My
place has central AC, so they'll be cool on very hot days while being toasty warm
in the winter. I have HEPA filtration in my air handling system, and frequently
open my windows to "air out" my place. It's hard to imagine they
would have found a better home.
Thanks
so much. I'll remain in touch to let you know how they're doing. -Bob
Update: The kittens are doing amazingly well. They love their new home, and seem to love me as well. It took them about a month to fully settle in and accept me as their "dad."Amber ("Hannah") had zero problems. Gem ("Daphne") had more (diarrhea, eye infection, and upper respiratory infection - the latest). She's been fully treated for everything and is now doing extremely well. They are both real sweethearts in every sense, and I love them. They couldn't have found a better and more loving home than mine. I'm slowly migrating them from the Felindae to the Smart Balance you originally mentioned to me. I plan on slowly migrating them from that to Smart Balance L.I.D. (their higher end, Limited Ingredient Diet) in the coming months. Please provide me with a mailing address and related information for making donations. I'll donate to your organization in lieu of Potter, given that I'm a "forever friend" there. It won't be on a regular basis, though I'll occasionally send one. UPDATE: This is a newer photo of Amber (formerly known as Hannah). She chose my fruit bowl as a favorite spot shortly after moving in. Both she and her sister, Gem (formerly known as Daphne) are thrilled with their new home and dad. They're eating Natural Balance foods exclusively (both canned and dry, with zero problems), and had lots of fun watching the recent snowstorm through the windows. They love watching TV with me on the couch during the evenings, and have lots of new toys that keep them busy during the day. They each weigh over 8 pounds now, and are still growing rapidly. They're beautiful cats with wonderful dispositions, and I love them dearly. |

Oh boy! What can I say about our rambunctious Zero! He is very loving. He has attached himself to my oldest son and
his girlfriend, he just can't get enough of them and turns into a bowl of jelly
when ever they come home! He gets
very excited when people wake up in the morning. He’s so happy to have company, and guess what---he
coos at you all the time! No one can do
anything without his supervision!
I have a constant supervisor as I make lunches for everyone in the morning. He loves watching the bugs and birds out the window! He’s absolutely full of energy, and sometimes doesn't know what to do with it all! Zero and Fifi are getting along more and more as time goes by. Fifi is very skittish and gets a little nervous when the big moose comes trotting over. They do like to play together, but only when Fifi says so! Zero has absolutely no fear, sometimes that's a tough thing because he doesn't know when to give up on an idea that he has, but he’s also very smart, he likes to look for things he can't have, like hair elastics. I would tell my daughter Sadie to put hers away so when he goes into her room he doesn't come out with any. She kept telling me that she didn't have any, so when we found one that he had I told Sadie to put it away in the bathroom... well, he watched her put it on the ledge right under the mirror and don’t you know the bugger went right in after her.. jumped on the sink and grabbed it back!

Juve is such a wonderful cat. He is very athletic mastering the sports of curtain climbing, hallway sprinting, indoor bug catching and let's not forget bird watching. Juve has his favorite toys, and just like a puppy, he drags them around the house or brings them to you when he's ready to play. Juve is friendly and lovable; he is content to just be lounging in the same room people are in. We brought him home on June 4, 2013 and can't imagine our lives without him. Thanks,Lorella |

Charity
is doing very well. Since June, she has really come out of her shell. That's impressive because we got a shelter puppy in August, Rogue. Rogue and Charity are like best friends. Charity even lets Rogue clean her face and ears---it's pretty awesome! She also still gets along with our older dog Buster. I've attached a picture of them together for you. Charity and our older cat, Simon,
however, do not get along. Charity has been bolder about pestering Simon who is grandma and had a difficult year in terms of health. They "tolerate" each other.
Thanks for being a great foster mom to Charity. She's really become part of the family.

Maggie is doing wonderfully. She is our first cat and our dog Wicky, are enjoying diplomatic relations at the moment. There is much negotiation over bed territory. Maggie wakes us up as soon as the sun rises--she is excited to see us in the morning and makes certain we get out of bed on time! She is a complete chatterbox and loves ongoing conversation. I've also never saw a cat who wanted to pet me back. Maggie is a giver (and a keeper!). I hope to have some good photos soon. (It's hard, because Maggie is always on the move!). Thanks greatly for Maggie.

Edison is doing great. I hung out with him all day today---he's a blast! He's an awesome cat. He's still getting use to his new home but he is slowly starting to lighten up and walking around. He slept in my bed all last night and he's sitting in front of me as I type. As far as the dog goes they still don't know what to think of each other but give it time. Hope all is well and thank you very much for Edison!
Hi All:
Our story definitely has a happy ending but it didn’t start out that way. Poor Otis hid from us for the first six months after he joined our family. We didn’t see or hear him during that time although we knew he was eating and well….pooping. In late November, he began showing up only long enough to look at us and run. Then he didn’t run away as fast and then he didn’t run away but stayed a cautious
distance from us. Gradually he become more comfortable and we were able to feed him treats and pat him. Now he looks for his daily brushing and never ever stops meowing!!! I have never known a cat that is this vocal. It’s like he’s talking to us. He and our other cat are best friends and run around the house in hotpursuit of each other. While we could have given up some many times out of
frustration, I felt it was important to give him his time and space. In the end, that was the right decision. Thank you to Bev and the C.A.T.S. team for helping along the way. Sheri
UPDATE: Otis is doing wonderful! He is now an active member of our family. No more hiding, loves to get his fur brushed and has become a brother to Hercules, our other cat. He’s still scared if we have any company so nobody else gets to see him, but when it’s just us at home he’s walking around meowing out his songs. He’s a very vocal cat. Thanks for your follow-up!Sheri

Hi Rita, I haven’t has time to do a write up yet however I plan on doing one once we get through the busy season for work. I wanted to send you a few pictures of Coconut. He is fitting right in perfectly with my 2 beagles girls are getting along really well, especially him and Nikki. He
has a fascination with water in the tub too. Loves to jump in and play with the water bubbles on the shower wall after you get out of the shower….LOL!! I am really going to love and enjoy this little guy!! He is very sweet and special.
Thank you again, my husband and I LOVE him.

We adopted Milly in August and we couldn't be happier to have her as part of our family. She is the sweetest, snuggliest, and funniest little kitty, and her oversized paws only add to her cuteness. She loves getting into
mischief, like jumping in puddles left over from showers in the bathtub and rolling herself up into our kitchen rug. She loves snuggling in my arms wrapped up in her favorite fur blanket...she kneads it and purrs like crazy. She is tiny and definitely still a kitten, but she is getting bigger and bigger everyday, and she is working on developing her "big girl" meow. Thank you so much for helping us find the kitty of our dreams and for your help and guidance when we first got her. Here is a picture of her from a few weeks ago, looking glamorous. (and we kept her name because it was just too cute...it fits her perfectly!)
Thanks again!
Anna
Thanks again!

Hi everyone,
Here she is, already snuggled up on the couch. Took all of half an hour for her to feel right at home :)
thank you for your time and for letting us take this bundle of cuteness home today!! (Tiny-in the arms of her forever home owner)
Happy Holidays!
I'm Dixon, and my mom picked me before I was big enough to go home with her, but she says I was worth waiting for. It was hard to get used to being in a big house where they let me go anywhere I want, it was scary at first, but now I love it. My mom calls me the princess, and tells everyone I'm perfect. I like snuggling on the sheets before the bed gets made, but I like playing most of all. I love my mom and follow her all over the house. I know when it's her car in the driveway and run to look out the window. Windows are fun because I can look outside, but I am not allowed to go out doors ever. My cat brother Jack gives me baths and snuggles , he wasn't jealous of me at all. The dog is OK but I think he smells bad. I am a very lucky young lady, I have nice food, clean water, my own scratch pad, a litter box just for me, and lots and lots of toys. I hope every kitten finds a good forever home like mine.

Hi there!
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I lost your email- Then, well I'm just slow. We've had them for over a year now (A year on April 1st).The first picture is Grady, the second is Momma (She's the only one that we changed the name), the third is Charlie (the black and white) and the fourth is Grayson. They are the sweetest cats I have ever seen. They get along very well and are always playing together. Mom has a bit of spunk in her, which I'm told is like a tortoise cat usually is, but they are awesome! They greet us at the door when we get home and Grady reaches up to me to get picked up. It has been the best thing we have done. Everyone that meets them says how sweet they are.Hope all is well with you. And thank you again! Sue M

Kiki had an excellent night and adapted very well to the apartment. She is a big ball of energy then nods off. She purrs so loudly and spreads her paws when she lies on one of us. Her scar looks intact and no issues. No trouble using the litter box. We absolutely adore her even if she did wake me up at 7 this morning and run around until 8 am before she tuckered herself out. I have her blanket from your house around the apartment and when she lies down on us she sucks on it. Thank you for being sigh a great foster mom to her. I don't think she would have adapted as well had you and your husband not cared for her as much as you two did. Here are a couple pictures of Kiki in her new environment. Sincerely,Carly and Ian

FrancisFrancis, or Francis Xavier, has been adopted as Beau's brother!!! Here is a note from his loving mom:
" My husband and I adopted our beautiful Francis Xavier a little over ten weeks ago from CATS. He is the sweetest little boy and we loved him instantly. He immediately adjusted to his new home with us and he fell in love with our other little boy, Beau Edward. (We adopted Beau from CATS, as well. His story is featured here, too). The boys are close brothers now and can be seen together always. We love them so. Francis gives kisses to all of his family and is a very sweet and cuddly little boy. He is an absolute treasure. He will have a wonderful life. He will the get the best care possible, tons of toys, treats, beds, good food......whatever he wants or needs. He deserves this and so much more. He will be loved forever. We are so lucky and happy that he has joined our family. Thank You Rita and CATS! " |
BeauBeau is a wonderful cat, who is soooo loved at his new home!!:
" I went on the Internet one day and saw Rita's website for her wonderful rescue organization. I had thought, just that day, that I wanted to adopt a little boy. I called Rita on the phone. She is an amazing woman. She spoke with such love for all ot the kitties, I knew I had found the right place. We arranged to meet. That Sunday, my husband and I drove to Providence to meet Rita and some kitties. Beau was doziing and I was very drawn to him. He wasn't playing or entertaining anyone, just having a nice little rest. I couldn't take my eyes off of him and wanted to hold him very badly. I asked to hold him and a wonderful person took him out and gave him to me. Well, that was it. I was instantly in love with him! I was so distracted by him. I was barely paying attention to RIta while she was going over the adoption papers! Sorry RIta! He was sleeping in my arms and, instantly, I loved him very much . I had my beautiful son right near my heart. We took him home and my husband and I couldn't wait to make him the happiest little boy in the world. This Sunday will be six weeks since we adopted him. He has made us so happy! Every Sunday morning I kiss him and say "Happy Adoption Day Beau!" He is the funniest little guy! He loves to play. He zooms all around the house at lightning speed! He loves to chase my shadow every morning. He loves to chase the laser. That amuses him and his Dad alot! He plays with his many toys. He loves to hide and 'sneak attack' people. He has a great sense of humor. He makes us laugh. He is always running around chattering to himself! Beau is also a very sweet boy. He gives kisses! It is wonderful. He gives us all kisses and we treasure each one. He also greets us at the door like a little puppy. He loves when the door opens, he will run straight to it to greet whomever is coming in. He loves his cat tree, especially sleeping in the highest bed it has. He loves his water fountain, he's silly, sometimes he sits and stares at it! Beau is my 'bed kitty.' He sleeps with me and I never had a kitty do that before. I love it! He is a darling. Beau is a gorgeous boy, with his beautiful fur, pale blue eyes, and a fluffy tail. Beau has brought so much happiness into our home. He is our baby. He will never want for anything. He will be loved forever. He will always be my baby, my darling Beau. I will always make sure he is happy, healthy and safe. There is nothing I wouldn't do for him. Thank you Rita, and all your volunteers, and Beau's foster parents. You all have made it possible for me to find my forever son. For that I will always be thankful. Fondly, Linda Beau's Mom " |

Rhys & Rhoda (now Cailey and Bailey!)

This is another wonderful example of how two cats are better than one! Cailey and Bailey- formerly Rhys&Rhoda- were adopted together and are loving their new home, their new parents, and each other! We are so thrilled they are doing so well!!
From their mom Susan:
" My husband Mike and I just want to thank you for doing what you do. If it was not for you, we would not have the two new additions to our household. We adopted a brother and sister - Rhys and Rhoda. We want to report that Rhys now named Bailey and Rhoda now named Cailey, are happy and healthy. They are loving their new home and we love them more than you know. They are the best kittens thanks to your wonderful staff who fostered them. They love to play in their kitty condo and with their toys. Thank you for all you do. "

SakiI just want to start out saying how wonderful Rita and her associates are from the Cat Adoption Team of RI! They give the best care for all of the cats that find their way there.
Our pug “Gizmo” died from old age a few years ago and we decided to adopt a cat. I searched several web-sites and finally stumbled upon “Suki” who we renamed “Saki” (Petfinder.com). I completed the application and the rest is history! My son Kyle and I went to Seekonk MA to take home Saki. Kyle was a little reluctant with the idea of owning a cat but when we saw how beautiful Saki was we instantly liked him. We thought for sure once we got him home that he would hide out for a few days to get use to his new surroundings but not true at all. He loves to be the center of attention and follows you wherever you go. Saki is such a good natured cat and very entertaining at times. He has been a great addition to our family. |
Pursia
Pursia was extra special to us because of the way she came into our care. Her owner was struck and killed by a car, and the family surrendered Pursia (aka Percy) to us. She clearly missed her owner- cats can suffer from grief just as we do, and she probably did not fully understand what was going on or why she was being taken away from the home she was used to. We really wanted to find her someone very special to give her a second chance at a happy home after such a tragedy- and luckily we found just that! Pursia has been adopted and is absolutely ADORED in her new home!!! We couldn't be happier for her and her new mom, who we can tell loves her more than words can express! Pursia's story is so heartwarming, and it makes us feel so wonderful to be able to do what we do for kitties like her who deserve love and happy lives. Congratulations Pursia and Lori- we're so happy for you both!!
From Pursia's mom Lori:
I just want you to know that Percy is a love bug!! We got her home on Sunday and after she sniffed around a bit, she was more relaxed. She sat on our laps and played with her cat nip. I am so happy with her. I didn’t realize how much she actually look like Wesley, my daughters cat. Except for eye color, they are the same size and temperament. Please share these pictures with everyone who we met at Petco. I love her and she will have the best home. Thanks for all you do to save and place these beautiful cats/kittens. Fondly, Lori

Ophelia

Ophelia investigating some flowers
Ophelia, a posh calico with a taste for the finer things in life, was abandoned with her brother and sister kittens. They were put in a bag and left for dead- leaving the brother kitten with a broken leg. C.A.T.S. came to their rescue, and soon Ophelia found a home with two loving, cat-obsessed ladies who adore her. You might see her around the site, as her mom does all our web-work and Ophy likes to keep a paw in the action. Her favorite activities include sleeping in her mom's bed, getting her belly rubbed, being carried around in boxes or shopping bags, and nagging her brother Damien- a rescued feral kitten from their neighborhood.
The Tippys: Lady Grey & Bella

Sentinel Grey on duty!
This is a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) success story!! Grey Tippy and Bella Tippy are a mother-daughter pair of cats living in the East Providence area. They appeared in the neighborhood of two volunteers, who began to feed them. At first, Grey and Bella were terrified of people and would not come near- only approaching their yard to eat when no one was around. As months went by, they became more and more accustomed to the volunteers, who are truly Cat Ladies and knew the steps to take to familiarize themselves without appearing threatening. Soon after, Grey and Bella warmed up to them- but only them! Every spring, the volunteers noticed that Grey and Bella would be harassed by other neighborhood and feral cats, ending up pregnant and in a lot of pain. One day our volunteers came home to a dead kitten, brought to their yard by Grey and Bella. They took it as a sign that their feral kitties were asking for their help. With our help, and using the very effective Trap-Neuter-Return method, they were able to secure the remaining kittens and find them loving homes. Grey and Bella were both spayed, given thorough vet checkups and made up to date on their shots. They were fostered for a few days while they recovered, and then put back outside where they were accustomed to living. The difference was incredible! Grey and Bella are much healthier and happier now, and have continued to grow close to the volunteers who helped them. They can be found in their yard most of the time- relaxing on the back steps or lounging on their patio set. They get regular meals and lots of kitty treats, and allow the volunteers to pet them (a lot!!! They LOVE to be pet!!!). They even stop inside the house every once in a while, but only with the door open and with a clear route back outside in sight. Now that they're not having kittens, they get in far fewer fights with the other cats outside. They will probably never live inside a home, but they have wonderful happy lives in their natural outside environment and are loved very much!
In the winter, the volunteers create Outside Shelters for Grey & Bella to snuggle up in and stay warm. They've nicknamed Grey "Sentinel Grey", because she is usually waiting for them to get home, and walks them from their driveway to their house- making sure they get in safely! Bella, the younger of the two, is the more submissive one- but she purrs the loudest when she's getting a good scratch behind the ears!
A Kitten Love Story

A happy little boy and his new kitten!
This little boy came to visit us a few weeks ago with his mom and little brother. While most young children look at all the cats, pet them, and move on, he became particularly attached to one small kitten that was being held by one of our volunteers. While his mother and brother oooh-ed and awww-ed at all our beautiful kitties, he was absolutely enthralled with this one sleeping kitten, even though she wasn't playing or doing cute things like her brothers and sisters in their showcases. He sat with us and pet her, and soon the little kitty woke up and- to our surprise!- turned over, stretched her paws out to him, and insisted that he hold her. As he took her in his arms, she snuggled up on his shoulder, nuzzled into his neck, began to purr and fell asleep. We had never seen a cat take to someone so intensely and so quickly before! While his mom recognized how special their bond was, she was hesitant to adopt because they already have a cat (who they had previously rescued with us!). However research shows that, while cats are considered 'solitary' animals, they thrive when they have another feline companion to share their lives with. After a few weeks of consideration, he convinced his parents to let him take her home, and now they are an inseparable happy duo! While we generally encourage people to adopt older cats, who have just as much love to give, there is something to be said about the bond that you forge with your cat when you are able grow up together. It is clear to us that these two will be a happy pair for a long, long time!
Maximus

What a handsome guy!
From Maximus' mom, Carrie:
"Maximus (formerly known as Barnaby) is my king and he is settling in just wonderfully to his new life here at the "palace". He spends his days in the picture window catching rays and his evenings propped next to mama on the recliner before retiring to bed where he snuggles right in again with mom! He is a true pal in every sense of the word as not a day has gone by that he has not been waiting in his spot for me when I walk through the door from work. He is a blessing and I don't know how I ever lived without him!!!!"

Carson

From Hoarded to Happy
Carson's mom, Gina, shares his story:
" Rita rescued him from a hoarder over 6 years ago, along with many other sick and neglected cats and kittens. He had an eye infection which was not treated and he went blind in one eye. If it weren’t for Rita he would never have made it. He is the absolute love of my life, and a wonderful, sweet boy. He is also spoiled rotten! He lives with his two sisters, Bridget and Zoe, and we are all very happy together. "

Cream Puff/Chuck and Frosty
From Chuck(Cream Puff), Frosty, Kringle, and Frank's mom, Cheryl:
"I am an animal and cat lover and I've raised my sons to be cat lovers. We have four of the little darlings, two of which come from Cat Adoption Team Services.
I first came in contact with Rita and CATS a few years ago when my son was heartbroken because an outdoor cat we'd rescued, Comet, got outside and disappeared. Comet never adjusted from being an outdoor cat to an indoor one. So we decided to find another cat. We went to petfinder.com and saw an adorable fluffy, buff kitten named "Cream Puff". Cream Puff was listed with Cat Adoption Team Services. Cream Puff, along with his brother and sister had been found as newborns living in a playground in Fall River. Their mother was nowhere to be found. Rita and CATS nursed them to health. I filled out the online application and was quickly contacted by Rita Falaguerre of CATS. Rita checked my references and I was approved for adoption. My son Billy and I drove to RI and picked up the kitten. I was amazed at the wonderful condition I found Cream Puff and the other kittens that CATS had for adoption in. They were clean, looked healthy and were very social. A couple of years have gone by and we adore out little Cream Puff who my sons renamed Chuck. He's healthy, affectionate, fun and he gets along wonderfully with my two other cats Kringle and Frank.
For no reason in particular, other than I'm just a cat lover, I got the strong urge to get another kitten this past spring. I fought the urge, but when I saw CATS had an all white kitten I had to have him. I certainly didn't need a fourth cat, but wow, I'm so glad I got him. Frosty, just like the other kitten I got from Rita, is healthy, adorable and social. The other cats love him. He keeps my 8 year old cats Kringle and Frank on their toes and he's the best playmate for Chuck. In addition, my 2 year old Belgian Shepherd has adopted Frosty as her baby. She adores him, follows him around, plays with him and lets him eat out of her dish."
