You're never too young or too old to make a difference!
Two of our volunteers, Owen and Evan, helped save a very special kitty's life! They are such awesome kids, and we know they're going to grow up to be wonderful animal advocates! Read about their amazing story here!
A Message of Thanks, and of Hope, from the Directer of Petco
As we enter this holiday season and begin our Tree of Hope fundraiser, we all take a moment to remember a vital component to any successful adoption program. This vital component is one with which many of our Petco adoption groups are blessed. These are the heroes that are called "fosters."
Fosters act as the bridge between what was and what can be. They are the pathway to a new life.
You will know them by sight, because they are made of mush. Their hearts melt when they see the animals, matted and sore, limping, depressed, lonely, unwanted, and afraid to love.
For a little time these orphans are theirs. The orphans are fed with the foster's own hands. They are loved with a whole heart and the orphans in turn are made whole themselves.
But then the foster must be made of steel. The time comes when the orphan is well and sleek. When their eyes shine and their tails wag with joy. Now comes the hard part. They must let them go - not without a tear, but without a regret. For they are safe forever, and a new animal needs the foster now.
Tree of Hope at the Petco Foundation allows foster families to continue to accomplish magic. Tree of Hope is the difference between a life of despair and one of hope and promise.
Please join us in making Tree of Hope 2011 a tremendous success.
Sincerely,
Paul E. Jolly
